Travel Service
Booking your train tickets to Sapa:
On average, there are three trains departing Hanoi for Sapa every night. Each train has 16 carriages and all of these 16 carriages offers different classes, ranging from hard wooden seats to comfortable VIP soft sleeping cabins. With this in mind, choosing the right ticket can be very confusing and time consuming.
6 on Sixteen boutique hotel books thousands of tickets every year for our guests and we would like to assist in booking your train travel as well to ensure your holiday to Sapa commences without any fuss or trouble. One thing to keep in mind is that Vietnam is a developing country, please do not expect too much from your train travel for example there are no showers and no fine dining carriages. The trains currently depart Hanoi nightly at 8:35pm, 9:10pm and 9:50pm. The train journey takes around 9 hours to travel 320km from Hanoi to Lao Cai (yes that is slow, 35kmph on average) arriving in Lao Cai the following morning between 5:30am to 6:00am.
6 on Sixteen books the King express and Livitrans carriages for our guests. We only book VIP 4 berth cabins. Unfortunately 6 on Sixteen does not offer 2 berth cabins. We strongly recommend you book a complete private 4 berth cabin even if there are only 2 or 3 people travelling in your group. You will be very pleased to have the extra space, extra security and peace of mind knowing you can sleep without somebody lighting up a cigarette in your cabin. The King Express and Livitrans carriages are equipped with clean western toilets, air conditioning, secure doors with internal locks, bed lamps for reading, power outlet, soft mattress, pillow and blanket. It is still a very good idea to bring ear plugs, these will become your best friends in Vietnam.
